Kellingley Welfare Under 13's have once again won the ACES Nationals Championships in Leicester
The prestigious event is by invitation only to league Champions or County cup winners throughout the country. This is the 2nd time in 3 years that the team has been crowned national Champions, making them the only team ever to win it twice and the only team from the North of England to win it.
Kellingley who represented Leeds from West Yorkshire played 5 group games beating Ipswich 1-0, Aylesbury 1-0, drawing 1-1 with Harrogate, 1-1 with West London and 0-0 with North London, finishing 2nd in their group. They then beat Wembley 2-0 in last 16. In the quarter finals they beat Kettering 5-4 on penalties and in the semi final they beat Birmingham 5-4 on penalties. The final saw Kellingley come up against hot favourites Leicester but a brilliant battling performance saw Kellingley win 5-4 on penalties. With the lads out on their feet, they scored every single penalty and 'keeper Alex Lapish-Smith made some brilliant saves in all three shoot-outs.
Coaches Jamie Rhodes, John Meehan and Kevin Gill are extremely proud of what is an unbelievable effort by the players, to be crowned Champions of England for a 2nd time.
